Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science and the latest evidence based research in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care. It allows the use of a wide range of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and to understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. I work with individuals to address nutritional imbalances and seek to identify the underlying cause of ill health, and by using a functional medicine approach on supporting the whole body towards re-establishing and maintaining health.
Nutritional therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine and is relevant for individuals with chronic conditions, as well as those looking for support to enhance their health and wellbeing. I consider each individual to be unique and recommend personalised nutrition and lifestyle programmes rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach. I believe in the power of food and the use of natural remedies such as essential oils, herbs and supplements rather than synthetic drugs and OTC medications in order to help a client heal.
As a fully-qualified Nutritional Therapist, I offer advice and assistance for many areas such as:

Initial Consultations (60 - 75 mins)
Once your appointment is confirmed, you will be sent a health questionnaire for review of your health symptoms and concerns, lifestyle and goals along with a 3 day food diary to be completed. The completed questionnaire and food diary must be returned, via email, at least 4 days before your appointment to allow for preliminary analysis prior to your initial consultation taking place. Continue to take any medication as normal; please do not stop any medication without your doctor’s consent.
During your initial one-to-one consultation I will use your questionnaire and food diary as a basis for further investigation of your general health, family health history, medical history, exercise routine, stress levels, current diet and lifestyle routines. This allows for a better understanding of your body's precursors, drivers and triggers. Often further testing may be required to establish your current health markers this will be discussed as part of your consultation if applicable.
After you consultation, you will receive a personalised and targeted health and lifestyle plan with advice and suggestions on changing your existing diet and lifestyle in order to support your health goals and promote more optimal wellness. This will include an explanation of the foods which may be contributing to your health concerns and symptoms, alternative foods to alleviate your symptoms, an explanation of nutrient deficiencies and how these can be corrected, programme timeline, suggestions and recommendations of any supplements and/or further testing where applicable.
Follow Up Consultations (30 - 45 mins)
It is difficult to gain full benefits from just one consultation, so I always suggest follow up consultations are scheduled at 4-6 week intervals to discuss and monitor progression on the lifestyle plan, and to further tailor the plan where required. Additional advice and supplements may be suggested where applicable. In my experience, maximum benefits from longer lasting healthy lifestyle changes are best achieved through ongoing support.
